Frida Kahlo’s “Little Deer” done by Annie Mess at Resurrection Tattoo in Austin, TX
Frida has been an idol of mine since I was 11 and this was the first painting of hers that I saw.
The tattoo is pretty self-explanatory: it’s the hydrogen symbol wore by Doc Manhattan in Watchmen. Since my best friend Linda and I live apart we also liked the idea of adding something “chemical” to our relationship.
Plus, if we were to have a symbol tattooed, it should at least be one that we respect, and this is definitely the case.

Nude Female Anatomical Figure
artist unknown, from Arzneibuch, 1524–c.1550
I feel like I need to get more involved in things outside of work. In desperate need of another outlet of sorts. Help! Any ideas?
I got these done at Body Rites Tattoo in Columbia, SC. Bryan was my tattoo artist and he was amazing. The whole experience was fun, Bryan is a great artist. These are my first tattoos and the meaning behind them, in life there are always two things that anchor us down no matter what, life and death. The skull symbolizes death while the face symbolizes life.
